  • Labradoodle History

Labradoodles are a cross between the Standard Poodle and Labrador Retriever. This crossbreed began in Australia, prompted by a blind woman with allergies to dogs who could benefit from a service dog. The result was low allergy dogs able to possess the best qualities of both breeds. However, the results from these first crosses were inconsistent.

Since the late 1980's Australian research facilities have been selectively breeding only the dogs with the exact characteristics desired. Through many generations of selectively breeding dogs with the desired coats, temperament and highest health standards, these facilities have developed the true Australian Multi Generational Labradoodle. They have gentle, sweet dispositions, high intelligence and allergy-friendly coats. Proven great with children and people with special needs, these charming, intelligent dogs are extremely easy to train, non-aggressive, and eager to please. The multi generational labradoodles are best for people with dog allergies and those preferring a non-shedding dog.
